11. Making History on the High Speed Rails: 2011

David and wife Tracy joined a train of a thousand riders as Train G1, the first-ever rail service on the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Rail, set off from Platform 1 at Beijingnan (Beijing South) Railway Station on 30 June 2011.

This trip warranted widespread national and international media attention from the moment David queued to purchase his tickets. He was already one of China’s more noted players in the rail world, having amassed a huge amount of miles across China (and the rest of Asia), Europe, and the Americas.

David and Tracy formed front-page features, TV reports, and widespread Internet coverage on the day of travel. In spite of a train crash three weeks later, David and family would remain committed high speed travellers and backers of the new projects.

11. 踏上历史列车：乘坐京沪高铁首班车 G1 次列车

2011 年 6 月 30 日，京沪高铁首发列车 G1 次列车，从北京南站开出。冯琰和妻子一同从北京南站 1 站台乘车。

本次乘车经历，备受海内外媒体广泛关注，从购票起就已经如此。此前，冯琰已有较为丰富的乘车经历，并在中国的其它省份和亚洲的其它国家和地区，以及欧洲和美洲多个地方乘坐列车出行。

冯琰及妻子成为众多媒体关注的焦点，接受了电台、电视台等多家海内外各地媒体的采访，并成为报刊的头条。即使高铁在大约三周后发生了温州动车事件，冯琰一家仍高度关注并支持中国高铁的进一步建设和发展。
