David Feng, male, born in January 1982 in Beijing, China. Swiss citizen. Master of Arts in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from the School of Media Presenting. Holder of TEFL Certificate. President of the Beijing Macintosh Union, President of the Beijing Macintosh User Group, Publisher of techblog86, Founder of Beijingology. (Formerly known from 1982 to 2003 as "Yan Feng" (Chinese pinyin romanization name).) David Feng is the President of the Beijing Macintosh Union and the Beijing Macintosh User Group, Publisher of techblog86, a tech, mobile and enterprise blog, and the founder of Beijingology, a blog and a wiki about the city of Beijing. David Feng is also the author of The Beijingologist blog on City Weekend, a co-blogger at CNReviews, the tech editor at Shanghaiist, a columnist at Macsimum News and a regular guest on Radio Beijing (AM 774).* David has expansive knowledge of up to 10 languages following comprehensive education in Switzerland. Following 11 IGCSE credits and 4 AP credits, he returned to his place of birth, Beijing, in 2000, graduated from the University of International Business and Economics with a Bachelor of Economics and a scholarship recognizing active participation in extracurricular activities in 2004, and graduated from the Communications (Media) University of China with a Master of Arts in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from the School of Media Presenting in 2007. In August 2007, he became a certified TEFL teacher. In 2002, David Feng started with several Mac friends around the World the Beijing Macintosh User Group. In 2005, the Beijing Macintosh Union was founded. The Beijing Macintosh User Group is Beijing's largest active Macintosh user community, with a membership of over 600 members. The Beijing Macintosh Union is a unique umbrella organization of some of Beijing's best Macintosh resources. Due to his active involvements in the Macintosh community, David was profiled on a variety of international tech-related and general media, including Wired, eBay Trend Charts (China), MacAddict, and others. Beginning in September 2002, David has become a frequent speaker and host, first in universities, and then moving out of the campus with internships at Radio Beijing and Asia TV. David's media involvements in all aspects has its roots in 2002, when he founded Global Mac News, which was revitalized in January 2008. By late 2007, David has written 3,000 Chinese tech articles. He started contributing to Macsimum News in late 2005, and, from October 2007 through to December 2007, became the editor of blognation China, a blog focusing on the Chinese Web 2.0 tech, mobile and enterprise worlds. On January 1, 2008, David launched techblog86, continuing Chinese tech news coverage following the collapse of blognation. Beginning January 3, 2008, David appeared as a regular guest in Radio Beijing (774 AM), talking about travel topics. David joined Shanghaiist in early January 2008. On January 23, 2008, David joined CNReviews, a group blog with Elliott Ng and Min Guo. In early April 2008, David started working with the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall in early April 2008. As early as August 2006, David started an experimental wiki on the city of Beijing, which became the Beijingology project in May 2007. Beijingology today is the largest dedicated wiki about the city of Beijing and features over 1,300 articles in English about the Chinese capital. In close partnership with City Weekend, David produces The Beijingologist, a blog on City Weekend's website, updated daily. David has travelled extensively to over 17 countries and regions. He has lived in Zürich, Switzerland, and now lives in Beijing. His interests include Macs, music, socializing, hiking, swimming, billards/snooker, driving and travels, bowling, biking, astronomy, history, geography and the Law.
